May Liss is educated as an electrician, electrical engineer, teacher and computer engineer. She has been working as a teacher for several years. Today she works as a manager for technical support in a firm called Statsbygg. She is also involved in project work and tuition. This has given her the chance to travel around and see a lot of Norway and Svalbard.
Halvor is educated as a bankier and computer engineer, and is working in a firm called Storebrand.
As mentioned, we have a great passion for motorcycles. May Liss got her drivers license when she was 18 and drove around on a Suzuki GSX 400 E for 2 years. When she met Halvor a year later, he was not very interested in motorcycles. But after some time (about six years!) she had him convinced. He signed up for driving lessons and got his drivers license in 1993. We bought our first bike in ‘94, a blue and white Suzuki GR650. Being a parallel twin, with unoriginal exhaust system, it sounded great. It didn't have the greatest comfort for two-up-riding though, and in '96 we switched it for a '95 model silver-grey Yamaha XJ600 Diversion. It looked smashing and was very comfortable. The engine didn’t have that much go in it, but it was very easy to drive.

Then the thought came, how about getting a second bike? Since Halvor didn't have a place at work to park a car, he was the one who got to drive the bike to work. May Liss was perhaps a little jealous. But then one day, he had a puncture on his way to work.
He managed to get to a bike shop before the tyre went completely flat, and they told him to just wait in the shop, and they would fix it right away. He called May Liss and told her what had happened and asked if we were rich. As it happened we were just about rich enough for him to buy a '94 model black Suzuki GSX 750 F that he had stumbled over while waiting in the shop. What bliss! We have had many trips on these bikes.
Two years later Halvor stumbled across a '98 model black Yamaha YZF 600 R Thundercat and fell in love again. This bike he held on to for a bit, and made some modifications on. That included heated grips (thanks, Morten A., NAF MC Oslo!), a Yoshimura RS-3 oval carbon slip-on, an Öhlins rear damper, Goodridge braided hoses, Bagster and Givi Monorack.
Then, in the summer of 2000, Halvors friend, Trond, bought a new Yamaha FZS 600 S Fazer. And May Liss got the chance to take it for a drive. Wow! It was such a great bike. The engine was strong, the ergonomics suited her like a glove, it was fast and fun. And it had all the comfort and practicality of the Diversion. It was her turn to "phone home". She visited the shop and went for a test drive, but she had already made up her mind. She made some modifications to this bike, which included a Leo Vince oval carbon slip-on, heated grips (thanks again, Morten A.!), a carbon hugger, Bagster and Givi Monorack. We also installed a Peltor bike-to-bike intercom system so that we could chat along the way.
In 2002 we bought a Yamaha DT125R to play around with and to use to drive to work in the winter (the tube sucks!). It turned out to be a little tall for May Liss, so it was Halvor who ended up using it. Driving in the winter with slippery roads and lots of snow was not as scary as it had seemed, and he was having lots of fun. The car drivers looked at him as if he was a crazy though. Unfortunately the bike had some electrics hick-up, and Halvor didn't always make it home for dinner. There were also times when May Liss had to borrow a trailer for our car, and go and pick him and the bike up. After a year in and out of Yamahas workshop they were kind enough to take it back.
In 2004 Halvor bought the new Yamaha FZ6 Fazer. So far this has got Leo Vince slip-ons, Bagster and Givi Monorack, and a Bagster Gelseat. And in 2005 he bought a 1993 model Yamaha XT600E, for use in the winter.
May Liss bought a Yamaha FZ6 Fazer in 2007. It has got a Bagster and a Givi Monorack, and will get Leo Vince slip-ons. These three are our current bikes, as you may have noticed in the “Fotoalbum”.
